   Stavros Douvis holds a Ph.D. in Sport Psychology from the University of Athens.

   From 2006-2009 served as Secretary General of Sport in the Ministry of Culture of the Hellenic Republic.

   Professor in the Department of Physical Education And Sport Science at the University of Athens.

   He has served sport from various positions, as an athlete, coach and referee, in the sports of basketball,      volleyball, football, and tennis.

   International referee, with participation in Olympic Games, World Championships and Championships of all      five continents.

   Captain of the Greek National Tennis Team, in Davis Cup, for 10 consecutive years.

   Vice President of the Technical Commission of FIBA World and FIBA Europe, as well as an International      FIBA Instructor.

   Member of the Executive Committee of the International University Sports Federation (FISU).

   Deputy President of the organizing committee of the Athens 2011 Special Olympics.

   In Greek Sport he was President of the Central Referee Commission of the Hellenic Basketball Federation.      Since 1997, he offered his services in the Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games “Athens 2004”, as      Management consultant and since fall of 2003, as a Competition Manager for the sport of Basketball.

   He speaks Greek, English, French and Italian.

HONORS
Honored by the International Olympic Committee in for his contribution, as a competition manager, in the organization of Olympic Basketball tournament in Athens 2004.
Honored by the International Olympic Committee for his contribution, as a member of FIBA technical committee, in the Olympic Basketball tournament in Sydney 2000 and Atlanta 1996.
Honored by the International Olympic Committee for his contribution in the Olympic Solidarity Program.

GENERAL SECRETARIAT OF SPORT
As a Secretary General of Sport, undertook intense action in the fight against violence in sport and the extinction of illegal substances from the sport setting. Concurrently worked towards the development of Sport Tourism in Greece, the sustainable utilization of Greece’s Olympic Properties after the successful organization of the Athens 2004 Olympic Games and the upgrade and promotion of University Sport. His leadership in the Secretariat General of Sport, guaranteed the successful organization of several mega sporting events which took place in Greece, like the 2006 IAAF World Cup, the 2007 Euroleague Final Four, the 2007 UEFA Champions League Final and the international tennis tournament 2007 Athens Champions Cup and the 2009 IAAF World Athletics Final in Thesaloniki. He also contributed in the successful organization of the 2009 World University Wrestling Championship in Thessaloniki.
